Easydrift developed a disposable tire cover to simulate the loss of adherence in a vehicle as if encountering surface elements such as snow, ice, water, sand, oil, et cetera. It will also simulate a loss of traction at low speed that a driver can experience at very high speeds responding to a call or during a chase.
The material used in the Easydrift DTS is durable and has a very low coefficient of friction, allowing the instructor to teach skid work and vehicle dynamics in a safe manner with very little stress on the car, SUV, or van. Training can be accomplished in FWD, RWD, and AWD, on most surfaces, in any weather condition.
The vehicle responds to the driver’s input therefore allowing the instructor to identify weaknesses that the student may not show when driving with full grip. The Easydrift DTS is not just a skid recovery product but a fabulous tool to work on coordination of the eyes, hands, and foot, weight transfer, weight distribution, directional stability, under steer / over steer, secondary skid or fishtailing, threshold and trail braking.
Easydrift sells the pair of their Driver Training System for $1378, which makes it less expensive than operating a wet skidpan, if considering pad maintenance, water cost, vehicle wear and tear, and eventually resurfacing.
Great advantages of the DTS are its simplicity and versatility.
